M&J Peaks is comprised of Mikaela and Jakob, a couple who have set themselves the impressive ’50!50 Challenge’ of conquering some of the world’s tallest mountains, including the mighty Mount Everest this Spring. They have both pledged to donate 10p each to the children’s charity UNICEF for every altimeter they climb, and are also asking others to donate to help them reach their fundraising goal of £50,000.
Their epic challenge is also taking them all over the planet over the next few months, and they required a website that they could update themselves from wherever they may be – from the volcanoes of South America to the icy peaks of Tibet. We built their website using WordPress, allowing them to update the site from their mobile devices (including tablets and smartphones) using the official WordPress blogging apps. They can also easily update their social networks – such as Flickr and Twitter – from the road, so we integrated everything into the website to keep it a lively and up-to-date journal of their adventure as it happens.
Mikaela and Jakob wanted their friends, family and supporters to be able to keep track of their achievements and whereabouts, so we linked in to UNICEF’s fundraising page, built in a ‘climbing total’ to track their altimeters, and built a custom Comment Book for people to leave their messages of support.
Wired Canvas have played an important role and have been fantastic in putting everything together, always respecting and totally understanding our original ideas and briefs. They have proved to work thoroughly and efficiently and to this magic team – Robert and Alice, the creative minds behind it all – we owe a big thank-you.
