Mijikenda Workshop are a luxury artisan workshop based on Diani Beach, Kenya, creating beautiful one-of-a-kind furniture from reclaimed and antique timber. They employ local craftsmen and have a strong environmental conservation policy of only using reclaimed and ethically-sourced wood.
Mijikenda’s founder, Nicole Englefield, contacted us looking for a refreshed brand, stationery and a website to attract new international customers. We worked with Mijikenda to develop a brand and logo inspired by the famous intricate ‘doors of Zanzibar’ carvings. Wood textures and carved flourishes were central throughout the design process, to reflect the unique artworks created by Nicole and her team.
The Mijikenda website was built using WordPress to allow for easy content management and updates from the workshop. We continue to work with Nicole on a monthly support-plan basis to grow her online presence and increase search engine rankings, helping to attract new customers from around the world.
The website has had a great impact and we have had lots of enquiries worldwide, as well as orders from within Kenya, which is what I wanted. The Wired Canvas team had great ideas and input, as is visible from the stunning outcome of the website. I am very happy!
