Growbags: Solo Design Insanity

Posted by Rob in design lotion

I've just been updating my portfolio with recent work. A large chunk of what I've been doing recently is for a project called Growbags.

Growbags are performance scratch nights taking place all over Dorset.

Back in October I created a promo image for Growbags by driving to the top of a multi-storey car park, standing in a growbag and taking photos.

Continuing the public insanity theme for the flyer - I took photos of myself dressed in a suit, in the January rain, wearing sunglasses, with my bare feet in a growbag. For each shot I had to run around the camera, set the self timer and run back...

For this project we also created a beer mat using the original promo image. I like to think my feet are supporting glasses and mugs all over Dorset.

I suppose it's not a 'normal' day job, but it beats reading the FT on a packed tube.

See here for the complete picture.

2nd Birthday

Posted by Rob in design lotion

I've recently been working on a website called 2ndbirthday.co.uk

It's a community based project we are setting up to try create a venue for the arts in Bournemouth. We're all bored of having nowhere to go, nothing to see.

So if it ain't working try and fix it!!

The concept is that we make a center for the arts by offering the venue out to the community.

You pledge something (time, money, your Gran) to support the venue and in return you get a 2nd birthday at the venue, at which you can programme your own night of entertainment... artistic or otherwise.

Now it's not only the queen that has a 2nd birthday.

Why not click here and register?

Indestructable Life

Posted by Rob in i survived

I’ve bought my car 2 years ago, I paid £650 for it.

I’ve never had it serviced and over the two years I’ve paid a total of £600 to get it through 2 M.O.T’s.

It’s the ultimate cheap car… however it would be nice to get a new one. Like most thing’s I don’t get around to it unless I have to.

This morning after the storms, I came down to this…

My car didn’t have a scratch (that you could distinguish from other scratches) and it drove straight out of the tree.

The (much more expensive) car next to it was a write off.

It’ll never die…IT’S INDESTRUCTABLE!

Group Insanity: Homegrown

Posted by Rob in i survived

I went to West Bay this weekend to take some pictures for Activate's 'Homegrown'.

Homegrown will be a showcase of Dorset's performing arts, which will take place on July the 4th.

We're going to print the flyers on seed packets in line with the growing theme.

It was raining, windy and cold, but it was a lot of fun...

Zoe & Charlie

Wheelbarrow Doughnuts

Fork In Hell!

Wet Wellies

Hat's off to Charlie (her hat blew off constantly) who didn't complain once about strolling around in a Summer dress in subzero temperatures.

Zoe's brolley work was also exceptional.

Here Hair Here

Posted by Rob in brain pulp

Seb's been growing his hair for charity since April, he's always had it shaved since he was 5. There's talk of him keeping it.

I thought I'd run through a few options... seb2.jpg

Which is your favourite?
